princess zelda has always felt like destiny itself to me. she’s brilliance wrapped in grace—wise, kind, radiant, and powerful, yet still adorably human in her moments of softness and nerdy curiosity. she carries the weight of worlds, of timelines, of endless reincarnations, but she never loses that spark of who she is.
i’ve loved her for as long as i’ve held a controller in my hands. i was a kid who couldn’t even read yet playing on my brother's n64, wandering through ocarina of time, riding epona across hyrule field, in love with kakariko village, ice skating around zora’s domain, & trembling at the shadow temple with nightmares of bongo-bongo. through it all, zelda was there... the heart of hyrule, the light i gravitated toward without even understanding why.
my favorites will always be ocarina of time, breath of the wild + tears of the kingdom, a link to the past, & wind waker. each one shows her in a new form: scholar, sage, pirate, goddess, protector. but no matter the role, she is always wisdom embodied, luminous and unshakable.
then there’s link & zelda together. they were the first ship i ever believed in, the first love story i ever carried in my heart. they are the very definition of soulmates: two halves of destiny, drawn to one another again & again, across eras, across lives, across every version of hyrule. no matter how the story twists, they always find each other. i think that’s the most beautiful thing of all.
